I can not believe that the hundreds of channels I get on my cable subscription not one of them is dedicated to health and fitness. There has never been a greater need for one. Americans are getting fatter and less healthy and almost every week there seems to be a story about our growing obesity problem , however, a show featuring home workouts is apparently as elusive as the fairy teeth as we move in 2014 Fitness Television. 

Ironically, when people were thin. I said Jack LaLanne here a couple of times - and I will return because he pioneered the concept of a fitness television with exercises that you can do in the comfort of your home, in front unit . The spectacle of Jack LaLanne created in 1951 and lasted until 1985. It was the most exercise program. LaLanne incorporates household items that someone was there, like a chair , so that viewers participate . My mother liked. She was a housewife and exercises helped to stay in shape. Sure, you can find free online practice , but I think really needs to be a program for cable TV or exercise during the day or the afternoon - something that people can watch and DVR when they have the time to exercise.

The probable reason that such programs do not exist, it is because nobody would . There were two channels of fitness on the cable about 6 years ago , called Fitness Television exercise and Fit TV , and both bit the dust after only a few years on the air. So, as the old saying goes , you can lead a horse to water but you can not make it drink . I blogged about why before today's society is so big , and unfortunately , many people do not seem to get healthy and exercise regime is a change of lifestyle, not something you made for a week and then resign. Maybe if the networks at least try an exercise demonstration this time of year when people make New Year's resolutions , you might be able to make it stick around for a while - God knows we could use one.

As a fitness professional, I constantly hear about people’s pain and suffering. “My knee hurts, should I continue running?” “I hear popping in my shoulder when I swing my racket, is there something wrong?” “My chest feels tight when I’m working out, should I see my doctor?” Fitness Pain

Sometimes it’s difficult to determine whether you’re hobbled with a serious injury or if it’s just a nagging ache that’s keeping you sidelined. There’s a big difference between the two. If you’re injured, you need to stop activity and seek professional help. Think of an injury as damage to your body that needs to be addressed.

If it’s just a little pain, sometimes you can work through it and sometimes it’s best to take some time off. Fitness Pain

There are aches that are just minor discomforts you can work through, like a muscle cramp in your calf. And then there’s the pain that just won’t go away. It’s short of an injury, but it continues to hinder your life. In this case, it’s best to take a few days or a week off and rest.
If you suspect something more, you may have an injury. If that is what you have, it’s you should seek medical advice. But again, there are different levels of damage. There a minor injury, like a sprain, that may require time off and some rehabilitation.Fitness Pain..

Then there’s a more obvious injury, like a broken arm or leg. Obviously, in this case, you need immediate hospital attention. With this type of injury, there’s healing time plus rehabilitation time to get back out on the bike trail or into the gym.

Injury to internal organs, like heart disease may be harder to track down unless symptoms persist, so you need to pay close attention to feelings like tightness in the chest or numbness and tingling down the arms. The consequences of ignoring or overlooking these injuries are dire, so it is extremely important to adhere to your doctor’s orders when dealing with internal damage.

Whether you just feel pain or suspect an injury, proceed with caution. If you’re unsure and something doesn’t feel right, seek medical attention.

Cycling is more fun when you’re fit, there are no two ways about it. When you are taking the hills in your stride, or pounding along on the flat, you feel fantastic. Improving your fitness can be as simple as riding a little bit more and taking a bit more care over what you eat, but with a bit of expert guidance you can get results in a much shorter time.
Skedaddle’s Pyrenees Fitness weeks are run from a beautiful 16th Century house in the picturesque medieval village of Chalabre, conveniently situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees, offering a wide variety of fantastic cycling roads. A lot of the people who come out here are short on time and don’t get to cycle much. They often have demanding jobs working 40-50 hours a week and commuting on top of that. I want them to leave feeling inspired to train more and learn ways to fit it into their lifestyle.

One week of riding isn’t going to change your season, but it can inspire you to make the changes that over time will make a difference. You will go away ready to train, rather than this week being your training. Over the course of the week we will do lots of different types of training sessions, so that when you leave you know how to put together your own training plan. We get people on the turbo trainer and show them the types of short but sharp intervals that you can do even when you have very little time.
The short sharp stuff is powerful medicine, you don’t need a lot of it, and we explain how it can improve your endurance, which inspires people to go away and do it at home too. You can fit much more into your daily life than you realise. We have some mats we use for stretching exercises and we show people how to do some basic exercises. It is nothing startling but remember, even just walking up the stairs is exercise.
If you climb the steps in a slow controlled manner, it can contribute to your strength work. We look at group riding skills, getting everyone together so the strong riders learn how to look after the weaker riders, and the weaker riders learn how to find shelter in the wind. We teach a lot about communication so riders get tuned into looking after each other. Everyone seems to enjoy and learn a lot from our group rides.
The Fitness Weeks are not just about training and fitness we look at everything, even bike maintenance, and can answer all your questions, even the most basic or complicated. Everything is covered, so you return home a better, more rounded rider.

Dave and his wife Toni have a little competition. If you go home lighter, Dave has won, if you go home heavier, Toni has won! As Dave puts it, “I make them hungry and she feeds them beautiful food.” As Toni trained as a chef, Dave doesn’t stand much chance of winning the competition! If you are training hard you don’t need to diet, so enjoy the luxury of being able to eat as much as you want.
 Fitness Weeks
Have a bike set up on your turbo trainer, so all you have to do is put your shoes on. Even 20 minutes two or three times a week will make a big difference to your fitness. If you can ride to work, do it. There are loads of little things you can do on your commute that will improve your fitness without eating into your valuable free time.
